Eagle 99.3 HS Football Broadcast Schedule Unveiled

Photo by Reggie Owens. (Lawrenceburg, Ind.) – A new season of exciting high school sports heard live on Eagle 99.3 is just one month away. The radio station – providing southeast Indiana’s best high school sports coverage – introduced its 2014 high school football broadcast schedule Tuesday. “Announcing a high school game is one of the most fun things there is to do in broadcasting,” said Mike Perleberg, Eagle 99.3 News and Sports Director. “Our rotating broadcast team of Chuck Thomas, Pete Arnold, John Blackwell, Casey Younger, and myself put a lot of prep work and fun into these broadcasts and hope that shines through to the listeners whether that person is an alumni living across the country or a parent cheering in the stands.” Covering local football and basketball has been a staple of Eagle 99.3's southeast Indiana programming concentration since the station first went on the air in the early 1970s. The first Friday night feature game of 2014 is August 22 when Lawrenceburg visits rival South Dearborn. The Tigers (7-3 in 2013) defeated South Dearborn (0-10) in last year’s meeting. Week 2 will take the broadcast team across the state line where the Harrison Wildcats (7-4) will open their 2014 season against East Central (4-7) in the annual War of I-74 on August 29. The Trojans will try to avenge last year’s loss. Two flex game options have been built into the schedule. On September 12, the station will cover either Franklin County at East Central in an Eastern Indiana Athletic Conference game or a northern Kentucky clash between in-county rivals Ryle and Conner. A second flex game on October 3 will be decided between South Dearborn at Franklin County or Cooper at Conner. The full broadcast schedule is shown below. Eagle 99.3’s high school football coverage will continue into the Indiana High School Athletic Association State Tournament starting October 24 and continuing as long as a local team is competing. “Our broadcasts are about more than the games. We make it a point to also share the stories of the players, coaches, their schools and communities during the broadcasts. It’s a privilege to be able to cover these games and we thank the schools and IHSAA for allowing us to do so,” said Perleberg. Fans will be able to hear the games via broadcast on Eagle 99.3 FM or webcast at EagleCountryOnline.com. Those at the game can listen on their iPhone or Android device with Eagle 99.3’s free app. Coverage of each game will start approximately 20 minutes before kickoff. Eagle 99.3 will also broadcast dozens of southeast Indiana high school basketball games starting in November. A basketball broadcast schedule will be released at a later date. Lawrenceburg football coach and former assistant basketball coach Ryan Knigga joins the broadcast team for basketball season. Local businesses should consider marketing opportunities with Eagle 99.3’s high school sports coverage, which can also be paired with the station’s 10 months of NASCAR Sprint Cup race broadcasts for a year-round impact on area sports fans.
