(Dillsboro, IN) - The Dillsboro Police Department recognized the entire Aurora Police Department Training Division instead of honoring a specific Officer. Every year officers are required to complete mandatory training that includes but is not limited to: Firearms, Emergency vehicle operation, defensive tactics, use of force and deescalation. The Dillsboro Police Department depends on outside agencies to complete this training. They receive assistance from the Dearborn County Sheriff’s Department, Lawrenceburg Police Department, but specifically Aurora Police Department.

This year’s "Officer of the Year" is the Aurora Police Department training division that includes Sergeant Matthew Hountz, K-9 Officer Jason Turner and Officer Kevin Seigel.

Sgt. Hountz has been with Aurora PD for 9 years. He instructs Emergency Vehicle Operations and Firearms. K9 Officer Turner has been with Aurora PD for 8 years. He instructs Emergency Vehicle Operations and Taser. Officer Siegel has been with Aurora PD for 6 years. He instructs Defensive Tactics and Firearms.

The EMS provider of the year goes to Bill Wooderson. Last year while working Responder 5 in Dillsboro, Bill responded to a cardiac arrest call where his quick actions, skill, and calm leadership helped save a life. Because of the outstanding care provided on scene, that patient was able to walk out of the hospital and return home to their family.
