On Thursday, Rick Probst sent a letter to Indiana Governor Eric Holcomb stating that he is resigning as county clerk effective February 16. Probst, a Republican who was elected clerk in 2012 then re-elected in 2016, said it has been a pleasure and honor to serve the citizens of Dearborn County and he looks forward to future opportunities to serve. The Dearborn County Republican Party will schedule a caucus to select somebody to fill the remaining two years of Probst’s four-year term through 2020. There was notice of one other Dearborn County public office resignation given Thursday. Jim Thatcher, a Republican, has resigned from the Miller Township Board effective January 10.
