Dearborn Co. Republican Caucus Selects New County Clerk Of Courts

(Dearborn County, Ind.) - Dearborn County Auditor Gayle Pennington was appointed Wednesday, Jan. 31 by a Dearborn County Republican Party caucus to replace Dearborn County Clerk of Courts Rick Probst, who has announced he is resigning Feb. 16. Pennington is term-limited and would not be running for re-election as Auditor. No other candidates filed for consideration by the caucus. Pennington began her service in county government in 1989 as an employee in the Clerk’s office, where she set up a computerized voting system. After eight years, she ran for Clerk and served two terms. She then ran for county Treasurer and served two terms. In 2010 she was on the ballot to run for Auditor but was appointed by a Republican caucus to the position after the death of Cary Pickens. Active in state professional organizations, Pennington served for two years as president of the Indiana Auditor’s Association and serves on the board of the Indiana Association of Counties.
