Dearborn Co. Housing Market Getting Better

(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) – The number of home sales for Dearborn County in 2011 continues to be slightly ahead of last year.

The Indiana Association of Realtors released Monday their latest monthly report for October. It showed statewide sales of detached single family homes, condos and townhomes making a double digit year-over-year increase.

Closed sales across Indiana totaled 4,892 last month, up 16.2 percent from October 2010.

The median sales price was down, however, by 1.7 percent to $110,000.

“Local housing markets are making steady progress,” said Karl Berron, chief executive officer of the realtor association. “It may not be as quickly as we’d like, but there is a lot of good news in this report.”

Dearborn County had 34 home sales closed last month, up 47.8 percent from the 23 sales in October 2010.

The first ten months of 2011 have proven to be better for homesellers in Dearborn County. Sales are up 12.5 percent to 325 through October and the median selling price has improved 5.3 percent to $131,601.

Ripley County saw 11 sales last month, three more than the same month last year.  Ohio County had two sales in October, unchanged from 2010. Eight homes were sold in Switzerland County, double what the county experienced in October 2010.
