(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) - The Dearborn Community Foundation (DCF), Inc. recently awarded a $1,000 Proactive Grant to the Southeast Indiana Chamber Foundation to support the DICE (Dreams, Ingenuity, Creativity, Entrepreneurship) Challenge for Dearborn County high school students.

In its 25th year of helping donors make a difference, DCF is awarding 15 proactive grants of $1,000 each throughout 2023 to charitable organizations that serve Dearborn County residents. Each of the Foundation’s 15 volunteer Board members is recommending a grant. The money comes from the Foundation’s Unrestricted Endowment Funds, established by donors to provide flexibility to address changing needs in the community over the years.

DICE Challenge is a regional entrepreneurial contest/program for high school students. The program encourages ingenuity and creativity among high school students, who also get to learn from local entrepreneurs, said DCF Board member Ramzi Nuseibeh, who recommended the proactive grant.

“DICE is a great program for our local youth to help them become future leaders and entrepreneurs,” said Nuseibeh. “It not only prepares them to be able to sell their ideas to investors, but also can reward them in prize money to fund their ideas or to help with tuition at an Indiana College.

Ramzi is also a Board member at the Dearborn County Chamber of Commerce and says he’s been able to see how the DICE program works in the community. “I’m proud to be able to recommend the DCF grant to help the Chamber Foundation with this great program for young people,” he said.

The DCF grant will help grow the DICE Challenge as it replaces the former Maverick Challenge program, said Eric Kranz, Executive Director of the Southeast Indiana Chamber Foundation. “Donations like this help to solidify the program and encourage participation by high school students who are aspiring entrepreneurs,” he said.
