(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) - The Dearborn Community Foundation (DCF), Inc. recently awarded a $1,000 proactive grant to the First Presbyterian Church of Aurora to help support the church’s Tuesday night Fourth Street Café outreach program.

The grant is part of the Foundation’s annual program, through which each of the organization’s 15 volunteer board members recommends a $1,000 contribution. The grants to charitable organizations that serve Dearborn County residents are funded through unrestricted endowment funds, established by donors to provide flexibility to address changing needs in the community over the years.

The $1,000 grant to First Presbyterian Church was recommended by DCF Board member Becky Lyons. She says the 14-year-old program, which feeds 30-50 people 5:15-6:15 p.m. every Tuesday, is a great outreach to bring folks together.

“I like it that a hot meal is provided and it’s for people who are in need, lonely or just need more socialization,” said Lyons. The program brings more folks together than just those coming for a meal or fellowship, as teams of volunteers from Aurora First Presbyterian, other organizations, families and businesses in Dearborn County prepare and serve the meals.

“It’s just a great community gathering opportunity. I really like that!”

To learn more about Fourth Street Café, including volunteering or donating to support the program, call the Aurora First Presbyterian Church at 812-926-2183. The church is located at 215 Fourth Street, Aurora.

Anyone can make contributions to an unrestricted DCF endowment to help make impact grants like the 15 DCF Board members are recommending in 2025.
