By Mike Perleberg (Lawrenceburg, Ind.) - A couple southeast Indiana churches are welcoming needy individuals and family in for Thanksgiving dinner on Thursday. St. Lawrence Church Parish in Lawrenceburg and its Knights of Columbus organization will host a meal for the homeless and needy from 11:00 a.m. until noon on Thanksgiving Day. The meal is located in the school gymnasium at 524 Walnut Street. Reservations are requested. Volunteers will also deliver meals to homebound people or shut-ins in Aurora, Lawrenceburg, Greendale, and Bright. To RSVP or request a meal delivery, call (812) 537-9186 or (812) 577-6059. The Versailles Church of Christ will host a similar Thanksgiving dinner free to the area’s needy. It runs from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Thursday. To reserve a meal at Versailles Church of Christ for dine-in or carry out, call (812) 689-5249. In Moores Hill, Little Hoosiers will host an open to the public Thanksgiving Day dinner from 12:00 until 4:00 p.m. The restaurant has been providing the meal each Thanksgiving for four years. A freewill donation will be requested from attendees, but not required. Delivery can be arranged by calling the restaurant. Everyone is being welcomed to burn off a few pre-turkey dinner calories at a 5K race in Dover. All Saints Parish it putting on the Thanksgiving Day Gobble Wobble 5K at the St. John’s Church campus on State Road 1. The run or walk race begins at 9:00 a.m. The entry fee is $27 per person with funds raised supporting the Sunman and North Dearborn Food Pantries.
