Brookville Library's $3M Expansion Open House Sunday

(Brookville, Ind.) - The Franklin County Public Library District is ready to show off the recently completed expansion of the Brookville Library.

An open house is set for Sunday, September 16 from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m.

Local educator, author and actor Mark McLane will deliver remarks on the library’s new addition.  This summer, he researched the library's "history, her family of benefactors, and the relationship she enjoys with the community." 

The $3 million expansion includes new children and teen sections, an expanded Genealogy Department, as well as small meeting rooms.

The library district says the addition was built without raising taxes.

The main original section of the library was built in 1912. It is one of more than 1,600 nationwide built with funds from philanthropist Andrew Carnegie, according to the historical marker outside the building. It started with approximately 600 books that first year.
