Air Care Called to Weekend Crash in Carroll County

Two Freightliners were involved in the crash on I-71.

(Carrollton, Ky.) – Kentucky State Police are investigating an injury accident in Carroll County.

The crash took place on Saturday on Interstate 71 near the 44-mile marker.

The preliminary investigation determined that a 2009 Freightliner semi was slowing in the right lane to exit the roadway onto the shoulder.

At that time, a 2016 Freightliner semi which was traveling in the right lane was unable to avoid striking the rear of the trailer that had moved onto the shoulder.

The impact caused the 2016 Freightliner to travel into the median before striking a cable barrier. The driver was airlifted from the scene with unknown injuries.

The crash remains under investigation.

The names of those involved were not released.
