The student-athletes come from Batesville, East Central, Franklin Country and Oldenburg Academy

(Indianapolis, Ind.) – Volleyball players from Batesville, East Central, Franklin County and Oldenburg Academy have helped set a new academic all-state record.
The Indiana High School Volleyball Coaches Association recently released its 2018 Academic All-State honorees, which included a record 345 student-athletes from more than 170 high schools statewide.
Locally, Batesville led the way with five academic all-state selections: Lily Abplanalp, Beatrice Amberger, Jenna Ertel, Monica Gerstbauer and Hattie Westerfeld.
Alexandra Bamonte, Sydney Bauman, Abbigayl Eldridge and Lydia Gigrich represented Oldenburg Academy on the academic all-state list.
East Central’s Ashley Dudley, Grace Egbers and Bailey Grunkemeyer, along with Franklin County’s Jenna Orschell were also recognized as academic all-state.
To be considered for the prestigious honor, student-athletes must be a senior on the varsity roster, carry a minimum GPA of 3.5 and score a minimum of 1110 on the SAT or 24 on the ACT.
