(Southeast Indiana) - Switzerland County survived and advanced in the IHSAA Girls Soccer State Tournament on Saturday.
The #6 Lady Pacers traveled to Southwestern (Shelbyville) where they defeated Greencastle 1-0 to advance to the semi-state.
Both teams battled throughout the first half ending the frame with a 0 to 0 score, however, the Lady Pacers controlled possession for a majority of the half.
In the second half, Switzerland County found the back of the net on a corner kick by Taylor Kappes that bent in right over the goalie to take the 1-0 lead - which ended up being the final score.
The Pacers (16-4-1) will play #4 Providence (12-5) in the Semi-State on Saturday, October 24 at Whiteland Community. Kickoff is scheduled for 6:00 PM.
The winner will play #7 Fort Wayne Blackhawk (16-2-3) or #5 Oak Hill (20-1) for a Class A State Championship the following weekend.
