Parson, Niese, LaBazzo Among Area Soccer Stars Named to All-District Teams

Congrats to the area players earning the honor.

INDIANAPOLIS - Eight high school soccer stars from southeastern Indiana have earned All-District honors from the Indiana Soccer Coaches Association. 

Local schools represented on the ISCA All-District Teams are East Central, Lawrenceburg, Madison, Oldenburg Academy, South Dearborn and Switzerland County. 

District 3 Girls First Team

  • Claire Niese, Oldenburg Academy

Niese helped led the Twisters to a 19-1-1 record. Oldenburg's only loss came in penalty kicks at the regional championship game versus Heritage Christian. Niese ranks third in the state in goal scored with 56. She added 21 assists. 

District 3 Girls Second Team

  • Maria Mayer, East Central
  • Lauren Bischoff, East Central
  • Emma Parsons, Switzerland County

East Central went 15-4-1 this season and won the EIAC with a 7-0 record in conference play. Mayer led the team in goals (20) and assists (16). Bischoff anchored a Trojans defense that surrendered only 16 goals. Parsons helped lead the Switzerland County Pacers to a 13-4 record and an ORVC title. She finished the season with a team-high 36 goals and nine assists. Parsons finishes her career as Switzerland County's all-time leading goal scorer. 

District 4 Girls First Team

  • Aubree LaBazzo, Lawrenceburg
  • Kyra Ayler, Madison

Lawrenceburg went 15-6-1 this season and nearly made it back to the state championship for the second year in a row. LaBazzo played a key role in the Tigers' success, anchoring a defense that gave up only 14 goals. LaBazzo got into the attack this year, scoring six goals and adding an assist. Ayler was among the top attacking players in the state this year with 41 goals and 25 assists. 

District 4 Girls Second Team

  • Ava Merkel, Lawrenceburg
  • Gabby Ward, South Dearborn

Merkel led the Tigers in goals with 15. She added eight assists. Ward was the Knights' leading scorer with 21 goals and eight assists.
