ORVC Cross Country All-Conference Teams Announced

Milan and Southwestern were the conference champs this season.

(Milan, Ind.) - If you want to the make the ORVC All-Conference Team in Cross Country, you have to finish in the top 10 at the conference meet. 

The 24 individuals who make up the 2022 ORVC Boys and Girls Cross Country All-Conference Team was determined on October 1 at the ORVC Meet at Hanover College. 

This year's champions were the Milan Indians (boys) and the Southwestern Lady Rebels. 

Milan dominated at the conference meet with a score of 26. Five Indian runners placed in the top 12, including medalist Ben Riehle (17:04), Gabe Riehle (3rd), Ayden Potts (4th), Lucas Cooney (7th), and Nathan Voss (12th). 

The next best team was Switzerland County with a score of 68. Cooper Hon and Nathan Furnish placed second and sixth, respectively, earning their way onto the All-Conference Team. 

Rising Sun and South Ripley had one All-Conference selection each, Ethan Markland and Hayden Hooten. 

The 2022 ORVC Boys Cross Country Mental Attitude Award went to South Ripley's Ryan Gorrell and Southwestern's Ashton Crumley. The Coach of the Year is Brian Potts (Milan). 

On the girl's side of the conference, Southwestern held off Switzerland County for the conference title. The Lady Rebels had four place in the top 12, followed by two each from Switzerland County, Rising Sun, and South Ripley. 

Lady Pacers star Claire Rogers finished second overall, just 16 seconds behind first place Calli Alderman (Shawe). Rogers is joined on the all-conference team by Grace White (5th). 

Other notable all-conference selections include Shelby Bastin and Virginia Minch (South Ripley), Hannah Potts and Carrigan Friend (Rising Sun), and Elly Potts (Milan) 

Bastin was named the Girls Mental Attitude Award recipient. 

Southwestern head coach Zac Nussbuam is the Girls Cross Country Coach of the Year.
