MIAMI - Two former EIAC football stars are national champions.

Cade Kaiser (Batesville) and Joey Cavanaugh (Lawrenceburg) are members of the Indiana Hoosiers football team. Kaiser is a freshman wide receiver, while Cavanaugh serves as a defensive line student coach.

On Monday night, the Hoosiers won the College Football Playoff National Championship, defeating the Miami Hurricanes 27-21.

The win sealed a perfect 16-0 season for the Hoosiers as they captured their first-ever football national championship.

At Lawrenceburg, Cavanaugh was a standout offensive lineman for the Tigers, a manager, Baseball / Softball PA guy, and an Athletic Department intern.

Kaiser will go down as one of the top athletes in Batesville High School history. He was a 1,000-point scorer in basketball, and holds multiple receiving records on the football field.
