Milan Cross Country Stars Highlight ORVC Weekly Award Winners

(Milan, Ind.) – Seven student-athletes have earned weekly honors from the Ohio River Valley Conference.

The ORVC Report for August 26-31 was released on Wednesday.

Two Milan cross country stars were named the ORVC Runners of the Week. Gabe Riehle and Elly Potts were recognized for their efforts at South Decatur.

Potts took first place in the girls 5K with a time of 23:31.3, while Riehle won the boys 5K crossing the finish line in 16:24.6.

South Ripley’s Ellie Lauber and Southwestern’s Jenna Owens are the ORVC Volleyball Players of the Week. Lauber tallied 33 kills, two aces and 27 digs in two matches. Owens had 30 kills, five aces and 20 digs in three matches.

The ORVC Girls Golfer of the Week is Claire Heilers. The Jac-Cen-Del star carded a 51 at Hidden Acres and a 59 at North Branch.

Switzerland County’s Emma Parson earned Player of the Week in girls soccer. Parsons scored six goals and assisted twice in three matches.

Southwestern’s Henry Knauer is the Boys Soccer Player of the Week after scoring 10 goals in three matches.
