TRACK & FIELD

*Submitted by Lisa Gausman

The Batesville Varsity Track and Field team headed up to Indianapolis after school on Friday to compete in the 8 team Bill Self Invitational at Franklin Community High School.  Although the rain stopped before the meet started, the wind picked up and the temperature dropped, making for less than ideal conditions for a track meet.  The wind made it especially difficult for many of the field events and was brutal on the oval.  Despite these cold and windy circumstances, Batesville had 16 personal best efforts.  And even though the Bulldogs only came away with 2 championships for the night, the girls were crowned runner-ups of the meet and the boys claimed 3rd.

A very strong Franklin Community girls team won the meet without question at 179.5 points to Batesville's 113.5 points, edging out Perry Meridian's 107 points. On the boys side, Perry Meridian easily took home the championship trophy with 155.33 points. Franklin Community scored 115 points for second and Batesville beat Jennings County by 1 point 92-91. (Full results can be found in the attached results)

Congratulations to Ayden Eckstein for his first place finish in high jump at 6-4 into the wind and the girls 4 x 800m relay team of Kaylie Raver, Bayleigh Demaree, Paige Allgeier and Megan Allgier, placing 1st (10:20.45).

GIRLS TENNIS

Molly Meer and Ava Walsman (BV) defeated Kayla Craig and Maddie Noel 6-2 and 6-4.
Grace Walter and Kate Bauer (BV) were 7-5 and 6-3 winnners over Eva Steinmetz and Olivia Rosemeyer at No. 2 doubles.
Peyton Pies (EC) defeated Isabelle Wonnell
Kelsey Scholl (EC) defeated Josie Meyer 6-1 and 6-3
