Hoosier State Relays Creates Charitable Giving Foundation

Over the years, local student athletes have competed at Indiana’s most prestigious Indoor Track & Field Competition

INDIANAPOLIS - The Board of Directors of the Indiana Hoosier State Relays (HSR) has announced the creation of a statewide charitable giving initiative, making community investment and philanthropic support a permanent part of the organization's nonprofit mission.

The Indiana High School Hoosier State Relays Championship has become Indiana's premier indoor track and field competition. Held annually at the Indiana State Fairgrounds, the championship brings together the state's top qualifying high school track & Field athletes to compete in individual and team events.

Each March, the event showcases Indiana's finest track and field talent and continues to grow in both attendance and statewide visibility. More than 10,000 spectators attend the championship annually, while an additional 20,000 viewers watch the competition through statewide live streaming.

The newly established charitable giving program will provide annual financial support to scholarship programs and nonprofit foundations that honor outstanding educators and coaches while expanding educational and athletic opportunities for Indiana student-athletes.

The initiative is made possible through the generous support of Hoosier State Relays sponsors. 

Their continued partnership allows the organization to strengthen its longstanding commitment to high school athletics while preserving the legacy of individuals whose dedication has had a lasting impact on Indiana track and field.

Thanks to the success of the 2026 Hoosier State Relays Indoor Track and Field Championship, the organization's inaugural year of charitable giving exceeded $25,000 in contributions.

"This track and field event has been tremendously successful, and our Board of Directors believes that part of our mission should be to give back to communities throughout Indiana," said HSR Meet Director Bob Potter. "We unanimously agreed that establishing an annual charitable giving program should become a permanent part of the Indiana Hoosier State Relays Indoor Track and Field Championship's mission. We are proud that the success of this event can help support educational opportunities, recognize exceptional educators and coaches, and benefit student-athletes across our state."
