(Dearborn County, Ind.) - The Solar, Data Center, and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) Workshop that was scheduled for Thursday, July 16, has been cancelled.
This decision was made by Planning & Zoning staff with the guidance of the Plan Commission.
Following feedback from both the Plan Commission and members of the public, the current priority is to focus solely on proposed amendments to the solar ordinance.
Staff is currently developing and evaluating multiple ordinance draft options, and it was determined that holding a workshop at this stage would not be the most productive use of time.
As work on the solar ordinance progresses, additional public workshops will be scheduled later this year to discuss proposed regulations for data centers and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). Those workshops will be held once a more defined draft of the solar ordinance has been completed and the County is prepared to shift its focus to those topics.
