Freshman Phenom is First Lawrenceburg Swimmer to Score Points at State

INDIANAPOLIS - The IHSAA Girls Swimming and Diving State Finals were held on Saturday at the IU Natatorium in Indianapolis. 

Among the competitors was Lawrenceburg High School freshman Erin Burgess. 

She placed 13th in the 100 Yard Breaststroke with a time of 1:05.73, becoming the first Lawrenceburg swimmer to score points at the state finals. Burgess was the top placing freshman, out doing Madelyn Yonkus, of Carmel, who placed 17th with a time of 1:06.17. 

Burgess' freshman season included winning the 100 Yard Breaststroke sectional championship. She also set LHS records in the 100 Yard Breaststroke, 50 Yard Freestyle and 200 Yard Individual Medley.
