Women's Giving Circle Launches New Initiative with Investment in Safe Passage

This investment will help support individuals and families impacted by domestic and sexual violence

(Ripley County, Ind.) - The Ripley County Community Foundation’s Women’s Giving Circle is pleased to announce a new Community Impact Initiative designed to strengthen the long-term sustainability of local nonprofits serving women and families.

As the first organization selected for this initiative, Safe Passage has been ‘adopted’ by the Women’s Giving Circle and awarded a $15,000 grant, to be distributed over the next three years. This investment will help advance Safe Passage’s mission of providing critical services and support to individuals and families impacted by domestic and sexual violence while strengthening the organization’s capacity for long term success.

More than a financial investment, this grant serves as a tangible expression of the Women Giving Circle’s appreciation for Safe Passage’s perseverance in advocating for and supporting individuals affected by domestic and sexual violence. Domestic and sexual violence continue to impact families across Ripley County and southeast Indiana. Survivors often face significant barriers when seeking safety, healing, and stability. As the only organization in Southeast Indiana dedicated to serving victims of domestic and sexual violence, Safe Passage plays an indispensable role in ensuring that survivors have access to support, crisis intervention, legal advocacy, education, and resources that help them find safety and rebuild their lives.

At a time when many nonprofits service organizations are facing uncertainty due to changes in federal and state funding, local agencies that serve some of the community’s most vulnerable residents are experiencing increased financial strain. These funding challenges come as demand for services continues to grow, making community support more important than ever. Through this multi-year commitment, the Women’s Giving Circle hopes to provide not only financial resources, but also a vote of confidence in the critical work Safe Passage performs every day.

The Women’s Giving Circle continues to grow and welcomes new members who are passionate about supporting programs that empower women and children across Ripley County. Earlier this year, at the Women’s Giving Circle’s annual luncheon, the group also granted funding to Luke 4:18 Meal Program, Milan CARES, Milan Food Pantry, and SEI Voices for Children, further demonstrating its ongoing commitment to supporting local organizations making a meaningful difference.
