(St. Leon, Ind.) – Two future Division I soccer players are having record breaking seasons at East Central High School.

Olivia Hopper and Lexi Watkins are writing their names in the EC record books by putting the ball in the back of the net at a blazing pace.

Hopper, an Indiana State University commit, has already set the school record for most goals and most points. She currently has 72 career goals (23 this season) and counting, and 188 career points (goals & assists).

Watkins, who will play collegiately at Ball State, will end her EC career as the all-time assist leader. She has set up 52 goals, including 22 this season. She has also scored 22 times during her senior season.

Both Hopper and Watkins have passed Lizzie (Kern) Newell’s records of 141 points with 47 goals and 47 assists. Newell has gotten a front row seat to seeing her records fall as an assistant coach with the Lady Trojans.

East Central is currently 13-1-1 and ranked #9 in the ISCA Class 3A Poll. On Monday, they captured an EIAC championship.

The Lady Trojans will round out the regular season on Thursday night at home against Harrison. They will begin sectional play on Tuesday, October 3 against Mt. Vernon (Fortville). East Central is the defending champion at Sectional 12.
