Several high school wrestlers from southeastern Indiana took to the mat on Saturday in attempt to punch their ticket to the IHSAA State Finals.

Four Semi-State tournaments were held throughout the state with local wrestlers competing at New Castle and Evansville.

At the New Castle Semi-State, Franklin County's Cole Freese and Colin Troyer, Milan's Kaleb Wilburn, and East Central's Jaxsin Prater and Brody Wingate qualified for the State Finals. Here's how they did it:

  • Freese placed 4th at 113
  • Troyer placed 3rd at 132
  • Wilburn was 4th at 157
  • Prater finished 4th at 165
  • Wingate placed 4th at 175

They will be joined at the State Finals by Switzerland County's Peyton Richards, who placed 4th at 138 pounds at the Evansville Reitz Semi-State.

The six state qualifiers from southeastern Indiana will find out who they will compete against in the opening round of the State Finals during the IHSAA Boys Wrestling State Tournament Pairings Show.

The show will stream live at www.IHSAAtv.org at 4:00 p.m. Sunday.

The State Finals will take place Friday, February 21 and Saturday, February 22 at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in downtown Indianapolis.
