East Central Wins Regional Championship, Several SEI Stars Advance to Semi-State

(Richmond, Ind.) - East Central's boys wrestling team captured their 8th straight regional championship on Saturday at Richmond. 

The Trojans had 11 wrestlers total 96 points, narrowly defeating New Castle (95.5 points) for the championship. 

Franklin County finished third (91 points), Milan was fourth (88.5), South Dearborn seventh (52.5), Batesville ninth (47.5), and Lawrenceburg was 10th (44).

106 - Mason Baylor (Milan, Fr.) defeated Colton Seale (Franklin County, Fr.) by fall (0:54)

  • Aiden Grimsley (East Central, Fr.) placed third

120 - Carson Weiler (Batesville, So.) defeated Briggs Tackett (Rushville, Jr.) by fall (3:16)

126 - Jayden Coy (South Dearborn, So.) placed second. Anthony Cox (Franklin County, Fr.) placed third, Kolton Harris (Milan, Jr.) finished fourth. 

132 - Matthew Baylor (Milan, Sr.) defeated Laim Hubbartt (South Dearborn, Sr.) by TF 19-4 (1:48)

  • Bryce Bruns (Franklin County, Sr.) placed fourth

138 - Kyle Bolser (Franklin County, Sr.) placed second

144 - Adam Brewer (Batesville, Jr.) defeated Carson Beagle (Greensburg, So.) by fall (1:18)

  • Brody Steigerwald (Lawrenceburg, Jr) placed third

150 - Logan Troyer (Franklin County, Jr.) placed second. 

157 - Zander Schaefer (South Dearborn, Sr.) placed second. Beckett Langferman (Milan, Fr.) placed third

165 - Nyden Euson defeated Aiden Flowers (New Castle, Fr.) by Dec. 4-3.

  • Jayden Disbro (Milan, Jr.) placed third

175 - Jaxsin Prater (East Central, Jr.) placed second. Kayden McClellan (Milan, Sr.) placed third, Keegan Clark (Franklin County, Sr.) finished fourth.

190 - Brody Wingate (East Central, Jr.) defeated Nathan Shafer (New Castle, Jr.) 

  • Cody Bolser (Franklin County, Sr.) placed third

215 - Max Nelson (Lawrenceburg, So.) placed third. Austyn Kolter (East Central, So.) placed third

285 - Seth Graham (Lawrenceburg, Jr.) defeated David Miller Jr. (East Central, So) by Dec. 2-0

At Jeffersonville, Switzerland County placed third. Switzerland County sophomore Leonard Oatman won the regional championship at 113 lbs. Senior Peyton Richards captured the 138 lbs. championship. 

Other Pacers advancing to the semi-state are Ethan Rose, who was the runner up at 132 lbs., Michael Gross placed, who was fourth at 120 lbs., and Aillan Hartley, who was fourth at 126 lbs. 

Wrestlers advancing from the Richmond Regional will compete at the New Castle Semi-State. Wrestlers advancing from the Jeffersonville Regional will feed to the Evansville Semi-State.
