(St. Leon, Ind.) - It has been a big summer for the East Central High School girls basketball program.
Coming off a sectional championship last season, the Lady Trojans hit the ground running this summer going 14-3 against quality competition.
East Central is returning nearly 75 percent of last year's roster, plus a skilled group of freshman headlined by Lilly Maple. Maple was joined by sophomore Natalie Stenger, and juniors Kaleigh Meadows, Audrina Dugan, and Sydney Campball at the IGBRR All-Indiana Showcase at Triton Central.
The event invites the top players from around the state to compete against each other in various drills and games. Former Trojans to compete at the event include Josie Trabel, Hope Fox, and Laney Baker.
This year, Natalie Stenger was selected to the 12-player All-Camp Team.
In other East Central girls basketball news, former standout Allie McCool has joined the coaching staff as a varsity assistant and 7th grade head coach. McCool, who was once East Central's all-time leading scorer prior to Josie Trabel breaking the record, played four years of D-1 basketball at George Mason.
She joins fellow former players Kyla Maxwell and Emma Ertel on the coaching staff.
