(Miamitown, Oh.) - A mother accused of trying to kill her four-year-old son was taken into police custody over the weekend.
Last Thursday, 41-year-old Vanessa Dean was charged in Dearborn County with Attempted Murder, Arson, and Neglect of Dependant.
Dean allegedly set her home in Hidden Valley on fire last October. She fled the burning structure, but left her four-year-old son inside to die as Dean’s mother in law watched in horror from outside the locked doors of the home.
The boy was rescued by a brave neighbor, suffering only minor injuries.
Dean had been free for about a day after the charges were issued. She was arrested Friday evening at an apartment in Miamitown.
She remains held in Hamilton County awaiting extradition to Dearborn County to face the charges.
At the scene of the fire following her son's rescue, Dean told an EMT that she believed police were going to take her son away and give her lethal injections, according to a court affidavit.
