(Dearborn County, Ind.) - The Dearborn County Retired Teachers Association held a Retiree Resource Fair for members and guests at their fall dinner meeting on Tuesday, October 20 at the Greendale Middle School.
Local organizations offered expert advice and giveaways ranging from exercise classes to cancer support and funeral and financial planning, mental health options, and more.
After a pre-Thanksgiving style meal of turkey, mashed potatoes, green beans, and pumpkin pie, and a brief business meeting, members and guests visited booths from the Aurora Recreation Center (ARC), Dearborn Adult Center, the Lawrenceburg Community Center, the Dearborn County Health Department, Community Mental Health, TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly), Andres-Wuestefeld Funeral Home, and AMBA, the Indiana Retired Teachers Association member benefits group. Attendees received free advice and had their questions about living the retired life answered by experts.
At the meeting members also began planning for their next Member Memorial Dinner where they recognize and honor former local teachers who have recently died.
The group also collected books, crayons, and school supplies for Cincinnati Children’s Hospital and Medical Center as their annual focused charitable drive, filling several boxes and tote bags with supplies.
The Dearborn County Retired Teachers Association is affiliated with the Indiana Retired Teachers Association and welcomes all local retired teachers and those who support education. If interested contact President Sharon Moder at mrsmoder@gmail.com.
