(Versailles, Ind.) - Last weekend at the Indiana State Fair, the Versailles Courthouse Square Historic District was officially recognized as one of 34 Indiana additions in the last year to the National Register of Historic Places and the Indiana Register of Historic Sites and Structures.
Director of Community Development, Holly Wehr, accepted the award on behalf of the Town, marking the end of an over two-year process that places Versailles on a prestigious list of historically significant sites across the state and country.
Being placed on the National Register of Historical Places and the Indiana Register of Historic Sites and Structures, property owners of contributing structures within the district now have access to historic tax credit programs and grant funding to help preserve, rehabilitate, and restore these important buildings.
