By Travis Thayer (Burlington, Ky.) – The Boone County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed the death of a young child who was seriously hurt in a crash earlier this week. The crash occurred Monday afternoon on Camp Ernst Road in Burlington. Deputies say a car driven by Ashley Miller, 30, of Florence, was traveling northbound on Camp Ernst Road when she lost control of her vehicle and crossed the center line, striking a southbound vehicle driven by Karlie Ferguson, 19, of Burlington. One child in Miller’s car was flown by Air Care to Cincinnati Children’s Hospital with life-threatening injuries. Chase Knapp, 1 succumbed to those injuries late Wednesday night. A second child in Miller’s car, also less than two-years-old, was seriously injured in the crash. The child’s name and condition is unknown at this time. As for the drivers, Miller and Ferguson both received treatment for minor injuries at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Florence. The crash remains under investigation.
