Record-Breakers Highlight Latest ORVC Report

See who performed well between April 29-May 3.

(Versailles, Ind.) - Nine student athletes have earned weekly honors from the Ohio River Valley Conference.

The ORVC Report for April 28-May 3 was released on Tuesday.

Three girls track and field stars earned Performers of the Week, including two record-breakers. South Ripley’s Alexa Yeomans earned the weekly honor by breaking the 100-meter-high hurdles record at the Vevay Invite with a time of 14.91.

Savannah Nussbaum, of Southwestern (Hanover), joined Yeomans as a Performer of the Week by setting a school record in the 1600. Nussbaum completed the mile in 5:28.98. Switzerland County’s Madison Spillman was also recognized for impressive performances in the long jump, 100, and 200.

On the boys’ side, Matthew Young (Switzerland County) and Gabe Riehle (Milan) were the Performers of the Week.

The ORVC Baseball Players of the Week are Braxton Wilson and Andrew Varble. Wilson starred for South Ripley last week, picking up a win on the mound versus Shawe Memorial. He tossed seven innings, striking out 12. Varble collected six RBI in two games for Southwestern (Hanover).

Milan’s Kynadee Bode is the ORVC Softball Player of the Week. The Indians’ star went 3-for-3 at the plate with two home runs and four RBI, and pitched seven innings, striking out 11.

Caden Kohlman, of Jac-Cen-Del, is the Boys Golfer of the Week. He carded a 47 and a 40 in two separate rounds at North Branch.
