Two Arrested After Reports of Thefts from Vehicles in NKY

The thefts allegedly occurred in the Cheshire Ridge subdivision in Florence.

(Florence, Ky.) - At approximately 4:50 AM on August 26, deputies from the Boone County Sheriff’s Office responded to multiple reports of thefts from vehicles in and around the Cheshire Ridge subdivision in Florence.

Deputies met with several victims who reported stolen items from inside their vehicles. One victim also reported damage caused by suspects forcibly prying open a car door.

Following initial investigations, deputies pursued a lead to 179 Upper Court in Union, Kentucky. Upon arrival, they discovered a set of stolen car keys lying on a picnic table and additional stolen items discarded in a trashcan outside of the address. A search warrant was obtained and executed at 179 Upper Court.

Deputies recovered multiple stolen items and encountered two individuals matching the physical and clothing descriptions captured in surveillance footage provided by one of the victims.

Jacob T. Scudder, 24, of Union, and Issac M. New, 26, of Ludlow have been arrested and are facing the following charges:

  • Criminal Mischief, 1st Degree (1 count)
  • Theft by Unlawful Taking ($1,000–$10,000) (1 count)
  • Theft of a Legend Drug (1st Offense or Value under $300) (1 count)
  • Attempted Theft by Unlawful Taking – Contents from Vehicle ($500–$1,000) (11 counts)
  • Additionally, Jacob Scudder was found in possession of marijuana and charged accordingly.

Scudder and New were transported to and are currently lodged at the Boone County Jail.
