NASHVILLE - Toby Keith is one of three inductees named into the Country Music Hall of Fame.

He will join John Anderson and James Burton in the latest induction class.

Toby Keith passed away from stomach cancer on February 5. The Country Music Hall of Fame has a rule where someone can not be inducted in the year following their death, but there is an exception here.

The Country Music Hall of Fame voting wrapped up on February 2. Results of the vote came in on February 6. Therefore, Toby Keith was technically voted in prior to his death.

Keith’s son, Stelen Covel, accepted the honor on his behalf.
