Teen Girl Dies Days After Motorcycle Crash

The 15-year-old's uncle had died at the crash scene.

(Brookville, Ind.) - A teenage girl seriously injured in a motorcycle crash in Franklin County last weekend has died.

Karissa Peters, 15, was riding on the motorcycle with her uncle, Jeffrey Dethlefs, 51, when he lost control of the 2008 Harley-Davidson on loose gravel on State Road 252 just east of Brookville on Saturday, July 7.

Dethlefs died at the scene. Peters suffered a serious head injury.

The Franklin County Sheriff’s Department announced Thursday that Peters died in the hospital of her injuries. She passed away Wednesday night.

Both victims are Cincinnati residents. Peters was a 10th grade student at Norwood High School.
