(St. Leon, Ind.) - With the start of the 2025-26 school year nearing, Sunman-Dearborn Community Schools has shared some exciting upgrades that have been completed or are in the process of being completed.
This summer, crews upgraded sidewalks, curbs and bus parking at East Central Middle School. The aim is to enhance safety and accessibility at ECMS.

At East Central High School, big changes are coming to the library. A mid-construction update was given earlier this month for the completely reimagined library space. The design calls for a modern learning space, collaborative study carrels, and dedicated areas for small group learning and tutoring.
The Performing Arts Center (PAC) will be seen in a new light (literally). Over the summer, the PAC received a major lighting upgrade featuring state-of-the-art stage lighting. From musicals and plays to band concerts and ceremonies, students will perform under professional grade lighting.

On the athletic side of things, East Central High School is set to become the first school in the Eagle Country 99.3 listening area with a soccer-specific turf field. The turf field offers year-round usability, fewer weather cancellations and a more consistent, safer playing surface.

And just in time for the start of the new school year, Bright Elementary School students will enjoy a brand-new playground. The upgraded space is an inclusive and safe environment that supports play, exploration and learning.
