The new traffic pattern will continue for the remainder of construction season.

(Batesville, Ind.) – Construction crews are ramping up work on Interstate 74 in southeastern Indiana.
The Indiana Department of Transportation plans to shift all traffic to the north side of Interstate 74 beginning on Thursday, May 10. The lane switch was originally scheduled for Wednesday, but was pushed back a day, INDOT said.
The lane shift will occur between County Road 850 East at the New Point exit in Decatur County and the State Road 101 exit in Sunman.
Eastbound motorists will be directed to I-74’s inside westbound lane via a median crossover just east of the New Point exit. The traffic pattern will continue for the remainder of the 2018 construction season.
In addition, the eastbound rest area near Batesville will close Wednesday for the rest of the construction season.
INDOT’s contractor, Milestone, is continuing a 2 ½ year, $61 million resurfacing and overpass reconstruction project on the interstate in Ripley, Franklin and Decatur counties.
Motorists are advised to use caution and slow their speeds when passing through the work zone.
