Early Morning Pursuit Ends with PIT Maneuver

The pursuit took place in Dearborn County

(Dearborn County, Ind.) - Early Sunday morning, a Trooper from the Indiana State Police-Versailles Post conducted a PIT maneuver to end a vehicle pursuit involving a vehicle traveling eastbound in the westbound lanes of US 50 in Dearborn County.

The incident began at approximately 2:00 am when a trooper from the Indiana State Police-Versailles Post attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a Kia passenger vehicle on US 50 in Aurora, Indiana.  The vehicle stopped initially but then fled from the trooper at a high rate of speed westbound on US 50 towards Dillsboro. 

The vehicle made a u-turn and then began driving eastbound in the westbound lanes of US 50 at a high rate of speed.  The trooper then attempted a PIT (Precision Mobilization Technique) Maneuver near West County Line Road due to the suspect’s actions placing the motoring public at risk.

As a result, the suspect’s vehicle rolled, causing the female suspect to be injured.  She was transported to an area hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

The investigation will be turned over to the Dearborn-Ohio County Prosecutor’s Office for the filing of formal charges.

The suspect’s name is not being released until formal charges are filed.

The Indiana State Police was assisted by the Dearborn County Sheriff’s Department, Ripley County Sheriff’s Department, Lawrenceburg Police Department, Lawrenceburg EMS, Aurora EMS, Moores Hill EMS, Aurora Fire Department, Dillsboro Fire Department, and Affordable Todd’s Wrecker Service.
