UPDATE: Guilford Man Died In State Road 1 Crash

UPDATE: A Dearborn County resident died in the crash near Dover.

Update published Monday, November 26:

A Guilford man died in a pre-Thanksgiving crash on State Road 1.

Indiana State Police say George Reusch. 84, was driving southbound on S.R. 1 near Zimmer Road in Dearborn County last Wednesday afternoon.

Reusch’s car went left-of-center and struck an oncoming semi almost head-on.

Reusch was pronounced dead at the scene by the Dearborn County Coroner’s Office.

The truck driver, Stephen Cole, 46, of Louisville, Kentucky, was not injured. He voluntarily submitted to a toxicology test at an area hospital, but troopers do not believe drugs or alcohol were factors in the crash.

Troopers are continuing to investigate the deadly crash.

 

Update published Wednesday, November 21 at 5:43 p.m.:

Dearborn County Dispatch says State Road 1 has re-opened going both directions. 

 

Update published Wednesday, November 21 at 4:40 p.m.:

Indiana State Police Sgt. Stephen Wheeles says the crash on State Road 1 near St. Leon resulted in the death of a Dearborn County man. 

The man's identity has yet to be released as the crash remains under investigation. 

State Road 1 remains closed until further notice. 

 

Original story published Wednesday, November 21 at 1:45 p.m.:

(Dearborn County, Ind.) - State Road 1 is closed at the scene of a serious crash. 

The accident occurred about a mile south of Dover around 1:35 Wednesday afternoon, where a passenger vehicle reportedly crashed head-on with a semi. 

Dearborn County Dispatch says State Road 1 is closed until further notice. 

No other information has been provided.
