(Friendship, Ind.) - Visitors to Friendship, Indiana in June will get a reprieve from road construction.
The Indiana Department of Transportation has reopened State Road 62 between Friendship and Dillsboro. The highway has been closed since April 1 due to a project fixing a road slide site about three miles west of Dillsboro.
The temporary reopening will allow for easier access to Friendship for those visiting the National Muzzleloading Rifle Association’s Spring Shoot and the Friendship Flea Market, happening from June 8 through 16. The two events bring thousands of people to the tiny town each spring.
INDOT says S.R. 62 will close once again on June 19 so crews can complete the $1.4 million slide correction project between Bells Branch Road and Sangamaw Road.
Once reinstituted, the closure will last until the slide repair project is complete, which is expected by mid-November.
