(Switzerland County, Ind.) - A section of State Road 156 which was the scene of a crash involving a motorcycle Tuesday morning has been shut down to all traffic until further notice.
S.R. 156 at Hunts Creek Road has been sliding, causing the pavement to become notoriously uneven. The slide area is just east of Vevay.
An accident involving a motorcycle occurred there Tuesday morning.
Just hours later, Switzerland County Sheriff Brian Morton and the Indiana Department of Transportation have announced that S.R. 156 has been closed. INDOT says the length of the closure is unknown at this time as crews begin work to repair the roadway.
Motorists can detour from S.R. 156 onto Tapps Ridge Road and Markland Pike. INDOT says the official state detour is S.R. 56 to S.R. 250.
"We ask that you use caution when traveling the county roads during this closure," Morton said.
