South Dearborn HS BPA Students Seeking Financial Assistance for Trip to Nationals

Area businesses are being encouraged to make a tax-deductible donation.

(Aurora, Ind.) - South Dearborn High School Business Professionals of America (BPA) students are seeking assistance to travel to the BPA National Leadership Conference. 

On March 11, the South Dearborn students joined nearly 3,000 peers at the BPA State Leadership Conference in Indianapolis. 

Eight earned top-five placements in their competitive events, qualifying them for the BPA National Leadership Conference at the Gaylord Palms Resort and Convention Center in Orlando, Florida, from May 7-11:

  • Isabel Pearson, 1st place, Legal Office Procedures
  • Callie Davidson, 2nd place, Intermediate Word Processing / 4th place, Basic Office Systems & Procedures
  • Taylor Compton, 2nd place, Health Administration Procedures
  • Luka Jones, 2nd place, Advanced Desktop Publishing
  • Emily Steigerwald - 2nd place, Advanced Interview Skills
  • Gracie VanWinkle & Olivia McLane, 5th place, Website Design
  • Dasha Martin, 5th place, Health Research Presentation

Additional, Sophie Ferguson, Cain Hopkins, Malia Martin, Carson Osborne, and Zander Schaefer will be competing in the Business Open Events. 

Each student needs to cover transportation, four nights of hotel accommodations, and meals, totaling approximately $877. Area businesses are encouraged to make a tax-deductible donation to directly assist these students in their journey to Orlando. 

The deadline for student conference registration is March 28.
