Scammers Using Retired Ripley County Deputy's Name

Do not give out any personal information over the phone.

(Ripley County, Ind.) - The Ripley County Sheriff's Department says they have received several calls regarding a scammer claiming to be Sgt. Houseworth. 

Sgt. Houseworth is a real person, however, he is retired from the Ripley County Sheriff's Office. 

The scammers are using his name and trying to get money from residents over the phone. 

The Ripley County Sheriff's Office will never ask for money over the phone. If you receive one of these scam calls, do not give any information and hang up immediately.
