Scam Alert Reported In Ripley County

Scammers are calling residents and posing as Ripley County Sheriff's deputies.

(Ripley County, Ind.) – A scam alert has been reported in Ripley County.

The Ripley County Sheriff’s Office has received calls regarding scammers posing as Ripley County Sheriff’s deputies.

The scammers are stating to callers that they have missed a court date and needed to pay bond.

Furthermore, the scammers are using an app to disguise their phone numbers as the Sheriff’s Office number.

If you receive a call like this, DO NOT give the caller any information or money. Anyone receiving such a call can call the Sheriff’s Office to check the information the caller has given.

The Sheriff’s Office adds that residents will never be asked by anyone from the Sheriff’s Office to pay over the phone or by an app.
