(Batesville, Ind.) - Paul “Satch” Satchwill will be joining the Democratic ticket for the 2019 municipal elections in Batesville, running for city council district four.

Satchwill is an English teacher at Batesville High School and has worked in the school corporation since graduating from Indiana University in 2015. Satchwill’s community involvement is extensive: he is a board member of the Batesville Area Arts Council, and is a chair on the Star-Spangled Symphony of Batesville event. He also hosts a podcast, “BIG MOOD,” which emphasizes the voices of local youth. In addition, Satchwill is a published writer, author of Project 229: A Photographic Journey, a photobook about the cities of Batesville and Oldenburg, and has been featured in The New York Times.

A strong supporter of the Batesville community, Satchwill is excited to launch his first campaign for an elected position.

Satchwill says, “As a young, motivated, and passionate candidate, I am inspired to step into the role of city council to continue making Batesville a better place to work and live.”

Once elected, he will work for stronger infrastructure with improved and new walkways and bike paths, stronger community engagement events and spaces, and advocate for a more inclusive and diverse community makeup through workforce development.

“The city of Batesville has given me some incredible opportunities to succeed and grow. Now I think it’s time to give something back.”
