The State of Indiana eliminated funding for RVR’s Jobs for America’s Graduates (JAG) program.

(Jefferson County, Ind.) - River Valley Resources (RVR) is urging community members, employers, educators, and elected officials to stand up against devastating funding losses to two cornerstone workforce programs.

The State of Indiana eliminated funding for RVR’s Jobs for America’s Graduates (JAG) program, a proven dropout prevention and career pathway initiative. Simultaneously, a federal funding rescission slashed RVR’s Adult Education budget forcing the layoff of 11 award-winning educators.

“These aren't just budget line items,” said Margo Olson, RVR CEO. “These are lifelines that equip our neighbors with the skills to secure stable, family-supporting jobs. Without them, many will lose hope—right when they need us most.”

RVR’s Adult Education program—serving nearly 1,000 Hoosiers annually—offers High School Equivalency prep, workforce credentials, English Language Learning, career exploration, and college/military readiness. Our program has earned the prestigious DWD Program of Excellence Award for the past three years, since its inception.

In Indiana overall, more than 423,000 adults between the ages of 18 and 64 lack a high school diploma, limiting their access to training, employment, and upward mobility. Our programs provide these adults with a second chance—an opportunity to build skills, gain confidence, and contribute to the local workforce.

Call to Action: Help Us Preserve These Vital Programs
• Contact your legislators—state and federal—to demand restored funding for JAG and Adult Education.
• Share your story—highlight how RVR programs have impacted your life or business.

“These cuts will have generational consequences,” said Konnie McCollum, Chief Operating Officer. “We must act now to protect the programs that build strong communities.”
