The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers have provided helpful tips to access recreation areas around the lake.

(Brookville, Ind.) - Due to Indiana Department of Transportation projects, visitors to Brookville Lake should be aware of two road closures impacting access to recreation areas.
Beginning this week, State Road 101 will close north of Brookville. Visitors are still able to access the Tailwater Recreation Areas and the Dam Vista.
Recommended Detour:
- From US 52 (Cincinnati or Rushville):
- Turn LEFT onto State Road 1 at the stoplight near CVS
- Follow State Road 1 for 6.5 miles
- Turn RIGHT onto Fairfield Causeway Road
- Continue 6.5 miles to State Road 101
- Turn left or right to access the east side of Brookville Lake
- From 27 South/State Road 101 (Liberty)
Access from Liberty via State Road 101 remains open to Brookville Lake and the USACE Office. Lake visitors will be able to access the lake from all eastern points with the exception of the Tailwater Recreation Areas and the Dam Vista.
One of the two bridges crossing Brookville Lake, Dunlapsville-Causeway Road, is closed for the entire 2026 recreation season.
Access to Quakertown Recreation Area:
From Brookville:
- Take State Road 1 north toward Connersville
- Lake visitors can follow the detour route (State Road 1 → S.R. 44 → State Road 101) to access Quakertown S.R.A.
- Follow for 10.4 miles
- Turn right onto West Dunlapsville Road (follow Quakertown S.R.A. signs)
Alternate Route (East Side Access):
- Follow State Road 1 → Fairfield Causeway Road → State Road 101 (same as Detour #1 above)
Some alternate back roads (Oxford Pike, State Road 252) are narrow and not recommended for trailers, campers or large vehicles.
