Road Closures, Flash Flood Warning Announced in Franklin County

Flooding and downed tree and power lines are the cause

UPDATE: A Flash Flood Warning has been issued for Franklin County until Thursday at 10:00 p.m.

At 18.0 feet, flooding impacts structures in especially the south side of Connersville, as well as Laurel in Franklin County. Flooding becomes widespread through other low areas, including near Alpine and Nulltown. In Connersville, properties between Dora Avenue and the river on the east side of Connersville incur flooding, as well as along Grand Avenue in the south side of Connersville. Properties impacted in Laurel are mainly along and west of West South Street.

At 7:00 AM Wednesday the stage was 12.3 feet. The Whitewater River is expected to rise above flood stage late this morning to a crest of 18.0 feet this evening. It will then fall below flood stage tomorrow afternoon. Flood stage is 14.0 feet.

 

(Franklin County, Ind.) - The Franklin County Sheriff's Department has announced two road closures stemming from recent showers and storms. 

West Hamburg Road is closed between North Hamburg Road and County Line Road for a tree down with power lines. 

Bulltown Road at the slab is closed for flooding. 

Motorists are reminded to never drive through flooded waters. 

A Flood Watch is in effect for Franklin County until through Wednesday evening. A Flood Advisory will run through Thursday evening. 

At 16.0 feet, Lowland flooding can be expected near Cedar Grove and New Trenton, with lowland flooding also occurring in West Harrison and Harrison, Ohio.

At 6:45 AM Wednesday the stage was 3.3 feet. The Whitewater River is expected to rise to a crest of 17.0 feet just after midnight tonight. Action stage is 14.0 feet. Flood stage is 20.0 feet.
