Rising Sun Regional Foundation Awards $300,241 In New Grants

Twenty-two organizations are having a happy new year thanks to grants from the Rising Sun Regional Foundation.

(Rising Sun, Ind.) - The Rising Sun Regional Foundation (RSRF) awarded a total of $300,241 in 22 new grants in the fourth quarter of 2018. These grants included:

  • $30,500 to Rising Sun-Ohio County Community School Corporation toward various projects;

  • $5,000 to Milan Community School Corporation for the purchase of new choral risers;

  • $5,000 to South Ripley Community School Corporation toward its first ever major musical production;

  • $15,000 to South Ripley Community School Corporation toward the renewal of its IXL online math platform licensing and/or SMART boards;

  • $3,647 to Sea Dragons Swimming toward the resurfacing of starting blocks and the purchase of equipment;

  • $11,500 to Batesville Area Resource Center toward improvements to its building, specifically the window areas;

  • $40,000 to Indiana State Police toward the development of an outdoor firearms range;

  • $1,694 to St. Louis School toward the purchase of CPR training materials;

  • $20,000 to Ripley County EMS toward the purchase of a new vehicle;

  • $10,000 to the Southeastern Career Center toward the development of a Transportation, Distribution and Logistics Center;

  • $30,000 to Delaware Community Volunteer Fire Department toward the purchase of a new brush truck;

  • $5,000 to Southeast Indiana Health Center toward the purchase of a sensor for dental x-rays;

  • $18,000 to Town of Sunman to excavate and surface a walking trail;

  • $20,000 to City of Rising Sun toward the purchase of debris deflectors for the docks;

  • $5,000 to Oak Heritage Conservancy toward enhancements for its Monarch Meadows Nature Preserve;

  • $15,000 to Ohio County Convention, Tourism, & Visitors Commission toward its tourist transportation program;

  • $7,500 to Oldenburg Academy toward the creation of an Innovation Room;

  • $7,500 to Ripley County Community Foundation toward its virtual job shadow program;

  • $4,000 to Safe Passage to assist with essental emergency shelter needs;

  • $16,000 to Aurora Emergency Rescue toward the replacement of radios;

  • $10,000 to City of Aurora toward the Aurora Utilities Wet Weather Storage Basin project; and

  • $20,000 to Ohio County Highway Department toward the purchase of a new mower.

Grant applications for the next grants cycle are due Tuesday, January 15, 2019 by 4:00pm. Applications can be downloaded from the RSRF website at www.rsrfonline.org, and can be emailed to risingsunregionalfoundation@gmail.com.

The Rising Sun Regional Foundation was created in 1994 by the City of Rising Sun, and is now funded by the Rising Star Casino Resort, owned by Full House Resorts, Inc., which makes monthly contributions to the foundation based on a percentage of its Adjusted Gross Revenue. To date, the foundation has received more than $43 million in riverboat funds, of which at least 75% has been granted back to the community.
