Rising Sun-Ohio County Schools Go to E-Learning Amid Potential Bomb Threat

UPDATE: Police complete sweep of school buildings, school grounds.

Rising Sun Police have completed a search of Rising Sun Community Schools following a potential bomb threat this morning.

Along with the Ohio County Sheriff’s Office, Rising Sun Police conducted a visual search of the schools and the Rising Sun Education Center. An Explosive Ordnance Detection Canine also performed a sweep of the buildings.

No immediate threat was located in or around the school grounds and buildings during the visual and K9 sweep.

(Rising Sun, Ind.) – Rising Sun-Ohio County Community Schools are on eLearning out of an abundance of caution.

The school corporation received a phone call from Dispatch this morning regarding another call from the Indiana Intelligence Fusion Center notifying Rising Sun schools that their district and a list of other Indiana schools had the possibility of a bomb inside.

“The police are sweeping the buildings now and we have a canine unit coming soon to help. I’m sorry for the late call, but student safety is our number one priority. I will continue to notify via email and Facebook on the progress of the search,” reads a statement from Rising Sun-Ohio County Community Schools.
