Report: Boone County Wants To Develop Big Soccer Complex Near River

The Boone County Recorder reports that the complex could encompass 15 natural grass and artificial turf fields.

(Boone County, Ky.) - A sprawling new soccer complex could be coming to Boone County.

The Boone County Fiscal Court voted 4-0 on November 13 to make Dutch Lions Group the county’s partner in the public-private project, the Boone County Recorder reports.

Up to 15 soccer fields could be developed on the 83-acre Hempfling Farm site on River Road near Hebron. Boone County bought that property for $1.25 million in 2004.

According to Dutch Lions Group’s proposal, the facility could be developed for $15 million to $20 million. The company would fund construction. The county would continue to own the property, leasing it for $1 per year.

The Recorder reports Dutch Lions Group was the only company to respond to a county request for proposals earlier this year. The company owns and operates soccer clubs across the country, including the Cincinnati Dutch Lions soccer team.
