(Batesville, Ind.) - Batesville High School (BHS) teacher Charlie Raab has been selected as the 2025 Great Plains Communications (GPC) Outstanding Teacher for Indiana. Raab was chosen from all nominees in GPC’s service area in our state.

“Charlie Raab cultivates a dynamic and collaborative learning environment that fosters both student and staff innovation,” said BHS principal Andy Allen, who nominated him for the award. “It is common to witness him utilizing his time before, during, and after school to explain complex chemistry concepts to struggling students. In addition, he possesses a natural inclination for leadership roles, mentoring new teachers and embracing professional development opportunities while also serving his local faith community as an adult volunteer. The Batesville Community School Corporation is proud to have a teacher of Charlie Raab’s caliber as a member of its faculty.”

Raab has taught science and math there for more than 20 years. He and his wife Mindy, the Batesville Intermediate School nurse, live in Batesville and have five daughters.

"It is a great honor to receive this award,” Raab said. “My accomplishments as a teacher are only possible because of God, the support from my wife and children, and the wonderful students and staff at BHS that I get the privilege to work with every day. Thank you to all of them. I am truly blessed."

For more than thirty years, GPC has recognized teachers who significantly impact their schools and students with an award. As this year’s Indiana winner, Raab received a plaque and a $5,000 cash prize.
